Uncovered: Old Shop Signs (temporarily revealed)

Postby red_kola » Wed Apr 21, 2004 10:41 am

April 2008:

A new topic to being together a number of posts originally made in both the "Shop Fronts" and "Signs" threads featuring those old shops signs / advertising which are fleetingly glimpsed during renvovation works and then (often) recovered and lost to the world again... I'll be copying in relevant posts from other threads but bear with us as it's going to take some time to get them all...

SEARCH YOUR ARCHIVES AND POST THEM UP! The preservation of this ephemera is exactly what this topic is for. Cheers!

I don't think this is 1950s FM. I checked the valuation roll for 1953 - not there. It's possibly 1930s when many of the shops in this area were refurbished - see the Virtual Mitchell.
I'll have another look at the valuation rolls when I'm back at work next week. One problem with them though is that they don't always say what the shop is.
