Whether it was arson, dirty filters or whatever, thank feck the Mitchell did not go up in flames, at one point for about a minute the flames were billowing towards it.

If it was windy yesterday we might have been having a completely different discussion today.

Hmm, it's all to do with what is allowed as capital expenditure and stuff, I'm not really 100% sure as I've not covered enough at uni yet. There are different rules for if it is a repair than if it is a completely renewal, for example, there are cases to do with something being repaired and it was allowable for capital allowances, but when a chimney fell down and had to be entirely replaced, but wasn't done in the same spot then it wasn't allowed. Sooo, in answer to your VAT Q I have no idea..

That was probably the most useless post ever.

The planning application was for complete redevelopment i.e. demolition of the existing structure, so they wouldn't have paid vat anyway. What i do wonder though is how much the insurance payout will be to the owners of cafe india and if it covers lost revenue until the business can be re-instated... if it does, then thats very handy considering they would have to close down for the construction of the new development... veeeeeeeeeery handy indeed.
here i go, it's coming for me through the trees

It would be nice if the papers could all get together and get the story straight. Read in one of the papers this morning it was 4 staff and complications with permission

The Evening Times was looking for Photo's of the fire today for some reason.

I wish i had my Camera in the Car with me instead of the boot and i could have taken a photo of the initial inferno. Most of the pics i've seen today have been of the fire after it had been going for a while.

I wonder what they used in the fryer to cook their Pakora in? Meths with a C4 batter for good measure...... ::):
