Cheers Fossy. I honestly had never heard of them, although i must have walked past them hundreds of times.

Do you know what the Council actually does there? Are they offices or Civic Halls used by the Council / Public?

Thanks Dexter. I know the building now. I think i actually went into it about twenty odd years ago for an interview with Building and Works who were doing a selection panel and interview day in it.

Thankfully i never took the Job.

I am looking forward to seeing the other photographs of it.

Gorgeous aint they - you just can't get that quality for love nor money these days! ...well, not the amount of money I'd be looking to lavish on a door handle. :)

The Parish Halls are on George Street which is the North East corner of George Square.

It is the HQ of Building Services. This is until later this month.

The building was the administrative centre for Parish Relief.

As Dex has previously stated sections of the building are offered for hire to oganisations holding small conferences and seminars.

So what happens later this month then, Alex?

Has it been substantially renovated in the last 15-20 years? I'm sure I was briefly inside this building in the early eighties, and don't remember it being remotely as impressive as this. Maybe it was just a dreich day. Or maybe you're just all just talented photographers.

Typical! I get back from an afternoon in the Horseshoe Bar with Cumbo and Monkeyiron thinking I would be first to post a few pics of this and I find a 2 page thread already!!

I give up, you guys are too fast for me.

Thanks to all who made this happen. I had a brilliant day out.

Cheers

The new LLP City Building Glasgow have set up their HQ in Darnoch Street.

The Parish Halls was renovated some years ago with an auditorium and a Cafe in the ground floor. Other parts of the interior where renewed.

It will transfer to the responsibility of the Curator of the City Chambers who will take over the administration of room hire and allocation to accommodate Council departments as yet no firm details are available apart from the fact that the Parish Halls will remain under the control of the Council.
