Why would anybody actually WANT to meet the queen?
Where abouts is the high rise and shops above Alex?

Hi Vlad
At the age Alex would have been it would have been the day off school that would have been more important than meeting the Queen.
The High Rise and shops are on Nitshill Road next to the railway line to Barrhead.
If you would like me to post up a photo of the high rise I am sure I have a few pics.
The high rise is not coming down it is the precinct that is being redeveloped.

Haha, who said it was? Its actually interesting how we all just seem to expect these buildings are to go...
On that note, do you by any chance know anything about the future of the multis at Kennishead?

As far as I know Vlad the Kennishead multis are safe.
There may have been some talk about taking away a couple but they are relatively popular so should be ok.
Have found other pics of the Nitshill flats and will post them either here or if there is a more suitable topic will post them there.

Will make enquiries about what multi is due for demolition. We know about and have been to Stirlingfauld for the view shots.
A social history project sounds interesting.

My neighbours insist that the blocks at the corner of Paisley Road West/ Edmiston Drive are 'definitely' going to come down in the next couple of years. Mind you, they have been saying that for a couple of years....
BTW, is there any relationship between the presence of mobile phone masts on the roof of tower blocks and the likelihood of demolition?

Don't think so. More to do with the demand. Some flats are popular whilst others are not. Dispite attempts to try and make some flats better they don't always become more popular.
There are many examples throughout the city where one block has more people wishing to live yet an other block maybe not that far away is hard to let. It is important that before investment is commited to be sure that this will be value for money over a period of at least 30 years. There is no point in spending money on something somewhere that no one wants to live.
