I can meet you before the actual event at a different bar and take you to the location of the chosen venue ...........

Hey Fossy, have you bought any gaffer tape, rope, thick poly bags or been building up your stock of tinned food recently? Has your car got a big boot? ::):

I think if i start to post regularly on here and get to know a few people first then i'll be alright. [My girlfriend was met online and then in real life and we've been together for two years now] so i'm not that shy about meeting new people. I just have to be sure first and plus i'm not the best conversationalist in the world, i have never really taken any pictures but like to look at the pics you all go out of your way to take and ofcourse most of what i know about Glasgow i have read on here and taken in. So give me another few weeks maybe of regualr posting and chat and i may be up for it.

And if you are insignificant like me, you have to go a few times before anyone remembers who you are... aint that right? huh? huh?

Would it be fair to suggest that HG especially appeals to the more quiet, shy, type ?

For some reason, the historical sort of hobbies don't seem to to appeal to the loud arses of life.
A sweeping generalisation I know, but I think there's some truth there.

I would be intrested on coming on your walks/tours of Glasgow, but pubs are quite Intimidating places in Glesga to meet new people. How about a Karaoke pub and I can wow you with ma Elvis Presley impersinations?

I'd love to come to one but, as I've just voted using the "I dont think I'd fit in" option allow me to explain.

I am actually quite shy when it comes to sitting down for a drink or a meal with complete strangers. For this reason I've missed out on weddings, birthday parties and the like simply because I hate that awkwardness that comes form not having instant familiarity.

If I did turn up I'd likely be the one hiding behind the fruit machine with a bag over my face and if anyone said "Are you Wullie?" I'd probably say "No!" turn bright red and leg it. Its a pity because I'm quite an affable bloke but crushingly shy when it comes to strangers.

Ah'm away back into ma cave noo!!!

You certainly come across as the shy, retiring type there, Macca

Well we can be who we want to be when we're among friends or have the guaranteed anonymity the internet brings. I take your point though; my posts on here would suggest shyness isnt one of my traits.

I have an absolute hatred and dread of being in a crowd of strangers who all know each other. But the most interesting and rewarding things I have done in my existence have happened because I stepped out of my comfort zone for a while. In the case of HG, I have met a whole bunch of amazing people from beyond of my usual professional and social spheres. And they have similar interests to me!
A vagabond on the way.
