At that time you got a great view from the front of the Blue Trains (orange by that time), and I often used to wonder about that line. I never once saw a train use it at that time. Re: diesels in the low level tunnells (sorry if this getting off topic), wasn't there a short spell in the late 80s/early 90s when the Fort William-London sleeper went through Queen St low level lines (to avoid the reversal into high level), and joined up with the Inverness-London sleeper at Mossend yard or somewhere like that? ( Jings, my anorak-ish past is coming back to haunt me..... )
