All this talk of Greggs reminds me of the old joke.
A lad goes into a bakers and points to a cake in the cabinet and asks the woman; "Is that a doughnut or a meringue?".
The woman replies; "You were right the first time son".
If you dinna get it try saying it in Weeggie.

There are variations of that joke.
My great-uncle in Canada told me it when I was wee.

Could we organise a group of around ten folk to all go in at the same time for a sausage roll and all pay with fifty pound notes?

If you can provide the fifty then it sounds good to me.

I'm up for a bit of "flash" pasty buying, perhaps with bank of Ireland 50's?
The one on Buchannan St is the smallest and most disorganised.

I've always liked the sound of a flash mob! Buchanan St is definitely the best location. Where's the Bank of Ireland in Glasgow? Somewhere near Gordon St is it?

not sure it is there anymore, as it used to be on queen street on the corner across from greggs, but it seems to have turned into a restaurant now.

You'll be lucky, there's a sign on the wall saying that they don't take 50's because of forgeries!?!
Has anyone ever seen a fake £50 note?
Who needs a six pack....when you've got a keg!!!

I think it is illegal to refuse to accept legal tender. I have been told that if you offer to pay 3 times and each time payment is refused (with witnesses) then you can just take the goods and walk because you made a reasonable attempt to pay.
Perhaps a legal eagle can clarify.
