Is that your Offshore Certificate you're coming up to do.........or have you already obtained that? Both my son-in-laws work on the Rigs and have done for a few years now. Yea,the money is good. They are 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off.


Aye,ah'm sure you'll like Aberdeen...........a nice corner of the world up here. Bloody expensive place to live though!!

yeah was up doin a weeks basic trainin at intertraining! an also hadd my 3 day course at RGIT montrose in altens! that was fun! they sunk me in dam helicopter unda water an had to escape fae it while it spun 180o! :)! a passed thow thank god!

wot do your son in laws do offshore? ill be an aprentice mechanic for salamis!

Desto,hiv ye tae pay that course yersell? In the early days o' the Oil,maist Companies fitted the bill fur their employees tae get thur certificate,bit ah suppose that's changed noo'adays as weel. Aw these Oil related firms watch the pennies noo'adays. The days o' STEAK,THREE TIMES A DAY,are weel gan!!

Een o' ma son-in laws is an Electrical Engineer Desto an the ither is a Derrickman. He wis jist like yersell......started aff fae scratch,bit workit his wye up a bitty. Ah seen an article in the local paper,that they will be lookin' fur young folk oan the Rigs,as maist o' the workforce are noo gettin' intae thur late fifties,hivvin' been in the oil business fur ower 30 years. Oanywye folks,ah'll awa the noo,as the wee wummin' says thit ah blether too much oan this computer!!!

yep sure did! cost me arm an leg for it! but once am with the company they pay all expenses thank god!

yeah thats how am gettin into it cause most of the riggers nowadays are close to retirement so they are needn fresh fish for the platforms!

am really nervous but that'l pass supose an least ill have good life wae cash am gettin! alot of riggers just now are on 80-90k a year!
god wot am startin on is even more double than wot asda pays me the now!
