Ah, but if you look carefully, you'll see the wee "evil" face next to it, indicating I knew exactly what I was doing. I was giving an example of poor quote tab usage. :)

Once came across a halal fish and chip shop in the
south side, it might have been near tradeston or
govanhill.

Having just discovered this thread and thowing my tuppence worth in to stir it up

I don't mean to sound pedantic or anything, but as far as I know, there isn't a bridge, OR a chippy above Central station

Yes there is, Glasgow Central Low Level is de facto part of Central Station, and since the Chippy is at street level then it is "above Central Station" ::):

What's the chippie in Barrowfield with the iron bars across the counter for the staffs protection?

I bet there Fish Suppers are the highest quality catch!

Since I'm almost a veggie (still eat fish), I can't often eat from Glasgow chippies as most of them still fry in animal fat. One of the few I know that actually use vegetable oil is the University Cafe in Byres Road. And they do taste better - you don't end up with that greasy gob feeling.

I believe the one next to beanscene in Battlefield boasted about using vegetable fat.

If you're over in thr west end, though, Battlefield's a fair way to go for a fish supper. :)

Yep that's a good one, I nip in there sometimes after work for a bag of chips while I'm waiting on the 34....

Blue lagoon IS the worst, I used to work with a guy who now works there ( won't say which one) and he's a bit of a dodgy bastard!! Wouldn't buy chips of him, they'd probably be second hand.....

:) as soon as i saw the thread title the name that came to mind was the blue lagoon ::): ::):

funny how all their shops in the town are equally mingin though, usually you find with 'multi-chip' franchises that at least one of their outlets has decent grub....

i can remember one time a few years back, when a drunken stumble found me in the depths of the blue lagoon and i tempted fate (or should that be 'fat') and bought a bag of chips - when i opened the wrapping a greasy waterfall of oil poured onto the pavement Image

lovely.

Urgh, memories of last night. I was so disappointed with the Blue Lagoon on Dumbarton Road it might just put me off smoked sausage suppers for life
