What Everys was too poash for me, it was Grandfare. They had a pair of crotchless knickers in the window display for yonks untill the sun faded them a pishy yellow colour and they were promptly removed :D

How do you know the sun turned them that colour? Maybe the store girl wore them every night and hung them back in the window each morning...

Good theory knOwledge, I reckon it was the tens of thousands of blokes staring at them over the years that caused the colours to fade.

Its clear from the previous posts that the so called style capital of europe has lost its sparkle. Not one mention of the ultimo trendiest claes shop in glasgow aka Jacksons the Tailors. I can still recall my pair of 28 inch paralell, 4 inch turnups petrol blue strides, including red back pockets with tartan flaps envelope and two buttons. And don't forget the self supporting waistband 4 inches. Now that was style.

On a side note I used to be What Everyone Wants's Cheif IT Engineer at their Springfield Rd Head Office and Contact centre.

Ah, the days.

I got a 25% discount which I did not use even once. On the upside we would have good 'sample sales' where all the samples in the business were sold off for £1 for a black bags worth. I kitted out my flat big time with stuff from the sample sales.

Also, the SAmp.Sales stuff would be better quality than the usual WEW stuff - most of it rejected for being too expensive with not enough mark up e.g: quality merchandise! :-))

Yes, it was.

The company was bought over by Brown and Jackson, who own Poundys, YMS (Your More Store) and the Famous Brunswick Warehouse.

We went through about four Managing Directors in the three years I worked there! :-(
