Blethering Scottish Words

Postby Henrysix » Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:48 pm

One of my 4 anglo sons asked me today via WhatsApp what I thought of something - I replied that it was a Stoater, I would imagine everyone on here (past and present know it’s meaning)
Led me to think of other words too:-

Brammer

Bowfin

Skelp

Plank

Feart

Middens

Bru (Labour Exchange)

Hevvy

Dogging it

Tried these with my 4 sons there still thinking about it, any words specific to you or your family you want to share!

Friday nights when the old feller got paid me and him and the wee brother off up to the Toy Shop in Eglington Street for a Dinky or a Corgi each, when he had done in his wages of a Friday it would be dad can we get off to the shop to buy some toys his answer would be “Aye and I can shite Spiders as well” well he didn’t actually say no but it meant no chance!
