User "Yoker Brian" passed away last night.

Postby SadNews » Sat Nov 04, 2017 3:28 pm

I know he posted to this site a fair bit, I don't know if anyone here spoke to him regularly.

He was a friend of my family longer than I've been alive, just got a phone call today saying he passed away last night.

He loved Glasgow/Yoker and it's history, always had some interesting things to tell me.
He's taken quite a lot of photo's documenting Yoker, hopefully they'll pop up in the future when people are looking for the way it "used to be".
A lot can be found on his Flickr page https://www.flickr.com/photos/yokerbrian/albums

If anyone was close to him and/or wants to attend the funeral, pm me and I'll get back to you when I know the details.

This is an amazingly small community and the loss of Yoker Brian follows hard on the heels of a previous well kent contributor, Hollowhorn who contrbuted so much to this place. With the demise of these types of boards in favour of the 'couponbook' that we all know and love or loathe, this had a more personal touch with the likes of Yoker Brian and others.

And so we will mourn him but hopefully his legacy to this forum will live on and we can add to his treasures and remember him properly.

Condolences to all who knew and loved him.
