I remember reading that the Masons & other workers who build Glasgow Cathedral were housed at Rutherglen and made a daily journey to and from the site.
Yes Bridie, you do.

"Over 4,000 signatures were attracted to a petition against the proposals and the council finally saw sense in the end. It’s not like Glasgow’s west end is short of night spots."

Not quite how I recall it but no matter. We now have Oran Mor.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

Dex I usually agree with most of what you've got to say (except when I don't).

Disagree on the Botanic's nightclub proposal. I think the community winning this and stopping it was a plus, realize there were a few noses out of joint and quite a lot disagreed.

For me there was a point of principal and a practical consideration.

Principal was, do we really want to encourage the council into commercializing our green space, which I don't think the council need any encouragement to do. Anything that can make them think twice about this sort of underhand theft is to IMHO to be applauded.

On the practical point, its only anecdotal evidence (so worth jack shit I suppose but I'll carry on anyway), the developer is well known and almost universally disliked in the west end in particular. From what I've observed his establishments generate the greatest number of complaints/incidents.

Mind we could all have had a shot on his mini railway that he wanted to put in as well to placate the masses.

Just my misinformed take on that particular proposal
