Westbound it joins the low level at Rutherglen and seems to be planned to run through beyond Partick to Dalmuir or Milngavie. Great news for gigs at The Hydro and should also mean more capacity for Celtic Park via Dalmarnock.
But there's more. Drumroll....the trains will run on Sundays! Albeit at only one per hour.

Yes but there is a downside. As Lanark trains will now run to Central high level Bellshill and Uddingston, off peak, lose services to Dalmarnock and SECC

Ah didn't realise that. I thought one of the reasons for going onto the low level was to reduce platform congestion on the high level. Seems crazy to be stopping any services to Exhibition Centre as The Hydro gets used more and more.
Perhaps the new franchise owners will come up with a better timetable. There's hundreds of big new homes been built along the Whifflet line recently, but I'm well aware of how busy the Bellshill/Uddingston services are too.
It's a shame there's no way to link Whifflet to Airdrie for frequent Edinburgh services. That would have removed the need to go west to head east.

Can someone tell me where the sump is in a deltic engine. The layout as I can see it does not lend itself to ease of lubrication.

And also unusual.
As well as being double-headed with a pair of beautiful Black 5s, the train is 'double-braked', with two brake coaches up front: usually, there would be one at the front and one at the rear.
