The following information cannot be 'evidenced' but at a meeting held this week with some 'senior' police and council officials they indicated the following; vast underestimate of the amount of people coming to Glasgow to take part or view the Games.
Poor traffic planning and untested policing of events - despite Police leave being cancelled and all resources heading to the East of the City, there are now some real 'internal' fears.
It has also been confirmed that the hospitals within the region are to be put on 'alert' and there is a major concern among the NHS that they will be able to cope. Edinburgh and Stirling hospitals will also be brought into the 'party'.
To quote one attendee, "We've known about this event for the last 8 years, we knew about it when we won the bid to host and we've thrown resources at making Glasgow's East look good without thinking the whole thing through." Another voice pipped up, "It's only in the last 18 months we've gotten serious and I think we're seriously flawed."
This fills me with confidence, not....
"Listen, it's too big a world to be in competition with everyone. The only person who I have to be better than is myself. And in your case, that's enough."
