Hi everyone, been lurking around the forums for a couple of weeks after stumbling across HG while doing some research.

Very interesting place I must say and what looks like a welcoming community!

I often photograph Glasgow so I'm looking forward to contributing here.

Hi there internet peoples,

Allow me to make introductions; My name is Andrew and I'm a author living in Glasgow, I've been here about six years but I've never before tried to write a story set in this city. This was largely because I felt I did not know enough about the place, even though my father's half of my family all come from the area.

My latest project however is set in Glasgow and I want to make Glasgow more than just a setting, I want to be able to capture the unique feel of the city; the people, the streets, the nights and the grey, driech mornings. One specific part of my project concerns, or I hope will concern the sewers of the city. It was research about this that brought me here.

I've had a wee read through some of the threads pertaining the sewers, specifically those about the fate of the old burns that are now culverted. It was clear that the people who post on this site really know what they're talking about, so really what I'm here for is to ask for your help with research for my project.

I'll gladly reimburse any such assistance with acknowledgement in the final publication, or I'd be willing to do some kind of time for time swap; I'm quite handy with graphic design and (I should hope anyway) the written word, so if anyone would find me useful I'll work for knowledge :)

Thank you kindly,
Andrew.

There was a Cobweb Club in Edinburgh but I think it was run by the University chaplain.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

You joined four years ago!

Here, whatever happened to that airline that used to do the cheap fares (50 quid or so) from Glasgow/Edinburgh to Budapest?

I was there ten years ago or so, and really liked the place (well, Pest anyway), but J Junior has just been charged
an arm and a leg for the same trip.

Satellite delay?
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

Hello people, I'm a Glasgow cabbie by trade , ( for my sins ) and I love ALMOST everything about this fascinating city . A Govanite by birth, my job has taken me to far off places like Easterhoose, Springburn, Tollcross, aye, and even Bearsden . Can ye imagine that ? A wee Govan upstart bein' able tae have a blether wi' Bearsden folk !

Seriously though, I've had a wee shifty through some of the threads and found them to be for the most part very enjoyable .
Hope you will allow me to make the odd , ( sometimes VERY odd ) contribution now and then. Just don't expect me tae impart life-changing nuggets of wisdom ! Only just passed ma qually by the skin of my teeth . ( They're kept in a jar noo ).

Frank Owen .

( Naw it's no ma real name . Jist spend too much time wi' ma heid stuck in books . Business is quiet !! )
