The Robot Dancer

Postby DMcNay » Tue Mar 23, 2004 3:08 pm

Remember that Robot Dancer guy? He had a white boiler suit, and a white face mask. He used to do robotic dancing outside Marks and Spencers in Argyle Street for years. He appeared in an episode of Rab C Nesbitt once.

Well, I noticed today that he's back! He was on Sauchiehall Street today, outside Marks and Spencer.

I wonder if its the same guy...

gawd ... it can't be the same guy but what a good snag , i'd forgotten all about him , he was on top of the pops as well and in some dodgy pop videos.
Good on him/her anyway , if you are gonna ask for spare change ...do it with style.

If it's not the same guy he must have been taught by him. He's doing the same old stuff like following wee kids and ruffling their hair.

The mask and boiler suit look new, though.

Maybe it's a franchise deal?

Robot Guy

Postby Pgcc93 » Sat Mar 27, 2004 6:40 pm

He was out doing his thing in Sauchiehall Street this afternoon. Stood and watched him for a few mins. He put me in mind of my Gran trying to pour a cup of tea gawd bless her.
He must go home and have a bath with 90% Radox & 10% water and a bloody great migraine after all that suppressed movement :?:

The sand-dance act was originally done in (I think) the Forties by a trio called Wilson, Keppel and Betty. There was more than one Betty.

My dad used to talk about them all the time.
