Image

Picture taken of Arthur Dolly Man Macarthur and his grand daughter. This was taken a few weeks before he died of a heart attack while trying to save a young lady from being run over by a rag and bone man at the trongate. Having worked for over 47 years as a “Toy Fixer” he died penniless and in debt. To further add to his estates problems after his death his daughter Madeline [who lived above the small shop also] found out that the property they lived and worked in had a double mortgage on it. In the weeks that followed the property was repossessed. His daughter and granddaughter were split up with in the month.

The child was sent to New Zealand and died before her sixteenth birthday. Her mother moved north but died of consumption later that year

On a side note the doll in the picture is now worth over £500 to collectors

Well it was the 1950's and everything was still rationed. However in todays society Arthur would find himself on a Register and be in a secure nonce unit.
WTF Is that heid on the table with the hands in the air ? 8O

Anyhow I'll let Glasgow's very own Arnold Brown explain the situation.
