Schiehallion,
- yes, I'm still interested. Something is better than nothing, and thanks for taking the trouble at all.

I'll send you a pm with my email address.

Whitenee,

Here's a link to the index of JFK's personal papers, and you will find what you are looking for in Series 2 -4. It is in microfilm format, and was donated by the US State Department.

Luckily, my dear old Dad is still alive, so I don't just have to rely upon Mac's accounts of life aboard HMAS Shropshire.

From this entry on Mac Gregory's weblog:

You can find the email address of Ms. Emily Malcolm who is curating the exhibit about SS Athenia, and it looks like the sinking will NOT be the sold focus of that.

My thanks to Schiehallion for providing scans of the passenger lists he has available.

The Donaldson Line papers held in the City of Glasgow Archives bear further examination, I am unsure what they hold at present.

Bob.

Emily Malcolm of the Glasgow Museum has just sent Mac Gregory an update about progress on curation of the SS Athenia exhibition. She has included copyrighted photographs of some artefacts from the Athenia which will be on display - see it here:

Thanks for posting this stuff Bob; I found them all very interesting. The person who takes over from Emily Malcolm will have the pleasure of looking after a great collection of souvenirs of the ill-fated "Athenia". Good for you Emily, you have done a great job, and thanks again Bob.

Hi everyone
I am looking for information on the SS Athenia from November 1929. My Nanna was born on the boat & the rest is a little bit of a mystery! If anyone can give me any tips on where I may be able to get any info on the boat, the passengers, staff etc I would be hugely grateful,
Thanks
Kerry Whitney

Hi Kerry,
Had a wee look thru Athenia records on my ancestry.com account after reading your post and may have found some records that would be of interest to you. Was your Nanna called Athenia Agnes? This is my first post on here so still trying to figure out how to send the images which I have saved..!! Julie : )

Passenger lists which list that your Gran was born at sea (listed at the end of all the other passengers) and also one which I think is her Mum on the previous page. Can't figure out how to attach these to a pm!!! Can you pm me your email address and I'll send them straight over : )
