See a lot of McGhees stuff in the supermakets these days, do they still deliver to local shops ?

When ah wuz a teenager in govan the best rolls you could ever get were "Jacks" they had a big bakery in shaw street and they wuz the rolls everyone wanted. If i remember right they had a fleet of vans which were bright red in colour and went all over Glasgow :D

McGees in Maryhill (i think ?) with their fast and furious team, vans used to screech around the corners 90mph. ::):

What make of vans were they ? i think the post office used to have the same make of vans.

They were in Murano Street in Maryhill near Firhill.
Always used to get a lovely smell in the mornings of baking rolls.
They moved to the foodpark out off Gt Western Road.
I think those are Commer vans?

I'd go for Leyland EA vans - the EA stood for 'Easy Access'. :wink:

Before Murano Street they were in Oran Street.

In 1875 William Bilsland purchased William Allan's old-established bakery business at 31 Elderslie Street, and thus were laid the foundations of the firm of Bilsland Brothers, and the great Hydepark Bakery.
