glasgow probably needs another sainsburys like it needs a hole in the back of the head
tesco bought land next to the present store here in cupar and, after a lot of arguements with fife council including a threat of closing the store and withdrawing from cupar altogether the council finally gave permission
the area is now a deserted plot of land as tesco have now decided to delay the new store for two years
there was a promise of 250 jobs but as it was opening a month before christmas(the original plan was it opened november 2012) whats the betting that of those 250 jobs that only half of them are permanent the rest being paid off after january 2013 yet another employment con

Add to that a massive refurb at Drumchapel and a huge store in Cambuslang on site of old Hoover plant...Taste The Difference.

Rather Sainsburys than Tesco . The Tesco Expresses look clinical and tired .

Scuttlebutt from the manager of the Ladbrokes next door is of a Cheque Centre .. although there is the option of that going into the defunct card shop.

I'll see if I can chase anything up on my walk later this week.

There seems to be a rolling programme of updates/ revamps to Tesco Express stores. It may be too little or too late.

Noticed that yesterday . There was one in Clarkston that lasted about 6 months .

If you walked from Trongate to Buchanan Bus Station you would pass 5 Sainsburys 8O

I also noticed a Tesco Express tucked away behind Glasgow Cross.

up here in inverness we have the distinction of being called "tesco town" as we have more tesco stores per head of population than any other town or city in the uk and guess what, after a huge lengthy and protracted battle with asda we now have a big new asda opening on the 23rd of this month. In one small area of our toon we now have 3 tescos and 1 asda and we wonder why town centres are dying

however we are now home to 2 spl teams and the scottish golf open, no bad for a wee toon :D

Do you have any Sainsburys up there? Or any Tesco Expresses ?

Well spotted Scott about the staggies. I live close to dingwall but work in inverness so i regard both teams as my locals. No we dont have a Sainsbury near us and as for tesco express i'm not sure of the distinction. one big tesco is the same as another big tesco to me. the reason i brought the matter up was because of the controversy between a council hell bent on promoting tesco (why!!) and the will of the people who wanted a greater choice of supermarkets (our right !!)
