Always thought Simshill was overrated and over priced.
Any bit of the West End, is defo in the above category.
The Merrylee scheme is probably underated. Used to doss about there in the late 70's an area I've always liked since.

Brilliant!

You've just given anyone who's turned up at an HG event in the last five years a pretty decent chuckle.

If I had a fraction of the Fossmeisters fashion sense, btw, I'd...... well, have a fraction of the Fossmeisters fashion sense.

Hee hee. You could be doing a 'frank sidebottom' and dashing into the loos to dress in drag?

Underrated - Mount Florida /Battlefield because its a nice area but not the West End and has a decent train line. Simples.

Simshill is between Kingspark, Castlemilk and Linn Park.

The Merrylee scheme is between Newalnds and Cathcart.

Never said thanks to you two - so - thanks! I don't really know those areas too well but been through Mount Florida to do the Queen's Park. Having lived in places with shocking lack of public transport, it is amazing how good it is generally in Glasgow - means your roads are a bit safer until I finally get round to learning to drive ::):

I'd have to agree with that.

Today i went from Bishopbriggs to City Centre then City Centre to Clarkston . When you compare whats in-between theres very little of the City between Bishopbriggs and City compared with the Southside . Not very fulfilling.

I'd like to put in a wee plug for North Woodside, that's roughly the bit between St. George's Cross and Queen's Cross. I moved back here over seven years ago, to the much-changed area I grew up in, and haven't regretted it.
There are plenty of flats, traditional and modern, for sale or rent at what passes for affordable these days; public transport is good - subway and buses; on foot, it's convenient for the West End and the City Centre; there are lots of wee shops, a Tesco and Lidyl; the pubs tend to be of the "old man variety" but they're fine; there's a good mix of ancient and modern Glasgow in the population; It's a quiet, safe place to go about in; there's a good library and two sports centres; the cafes, Jaconelli's and the Grove are thriving as are the two local restaurants; you get to support the Jags, that's something of a mixed blessing though.
I could go on but in short, I like living here.

Durachdan,
Eddy

PS - I know all my neighbours by name.
