The Griffinettes

best bump ever. Well done Veronica, nice history of one of Glasgows longest standing liquid landmarks.

I wonder if Veronica sang in the Griffinettes?

If you had to pick a custodian for the Griffen, you couldn't do much better than the current owner.

I doubt you'll be seeing much of the usual 'modernisation' on his watch.

My concerns about the Griffin are its proximity to the bampot end of Sauchiehall St and a distinct reluctance, it seems, to excercise any control over those admitted to the premises.

I doubt they can do much about the location.

I've never been in there as far as chucking-out time, so you might well be right there, though.

Has the bampot end of Sauchiehall Street changed? Have they closed the Moon and Victoria's?

Renamed them and they've new owners . There's got to be a bampot end but Victoria's bouncers always appeared to be in altercations with punters.

Moderators, could one of you correct the spelling in the title.

You don't get this sort of thing in Glasgow Guide.

I miss the A-boards that used to grace the pavement outside the Griffin. It was the pub where i had my first pint, a prologue on a school outing to the McLellan galleries. I love the way it looks, love the 'Glasgow salad' on the menu.

They're usually still there, though not on the pics above.

Sometime they need a second or third read before it sinks in. Sometimes it doesn't sink in at all.

Weren't they served with a GCC 'desist' order for putting the board out on the street?
