I have been keeping doors locked which is what the police advise and I throw my handbag on floor of passenger side.
Glad I only work part time so I am driving home in daylight.
I use a car park and feel safer than if I were parked in some of the surrounding streets near my work.
Some people in work had their tyres slashed last year in an attack on quite a number of cars.

I know a man has been charged with attempted hijacking of a taxi in West Belfast but it is hard to know how many
people have been involved in these attacks.

Bridie,
Seriously that story about the rat sounds terrifying to me.
I have a real phobia about rats and can't even touch things like gerbils, hamsters or mice.

I am just trying not to dwell on things too much.
Thanks to Dexter and banjo for their concern. ::):

Thing is lock your doors and don't open your car window if someone approaches you at a garage or a car park.
Even down here people aren't taking the chances anymore like that they used to - it was only recently they started locking their doors in the country 8O

At least don't get over excited.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

I keep the car doors locked driving through Glasgow nowadays.
That was after I was parked in Coburg Street one day eating my lunch, when the passenger door was opened and a kid (probably about 14) grabbed my laptop bag and made off. Pity he never noticed I was holding the laptop at the time so all he got was an empty bag ::):
Still there are parts that I always have the doors locked going through, Brigton being one of them and Nitshill being another.
and I rose up, and knew that I was tired, and continued my journey

Spotted on BBC website this very evening.

Police in Northern Ireland are currently looking for a 'flasher'.
The reported incidents are usually at weekends between 8-10pm and the man sometimes carried a torch.

Glad I don't live in in that neck of the woods. 8O  ::):

Really glad they've decided to show the "Billy" plays again on this the 30th anniversary of first showing.
Gritty, real and great acting from Kenneth Branagh and Jim Ellis. Anyone else remember them?

Bridie,

I watched those plays the first time round and look forward to seeing them again.
Think Brid Brennan who played the oldest girl has changed the least in appearance over the years.

Just watched the first one - powerful stuff maybe slightly dated in production but it was thirty years ago - excellent!
The children were brilliant so natural and James Ellis's portrayal was such that you felt sorry for Norman - a bit.
I was so impressed with Kenneth Branagh the first time around and I remember why.
It was quite poignant too when the writer stood looking up at the new part of the Royal Hospital from the point where his old house stood.

Bridie,

I only watched the first programme where James Ellis and Brid Brennan met up to share memories.
Have recorded the second one and will watch it later. It does seem a bit dated now but expect it was quite an accurate picture for many who lived in the area at the time.

Hope you don't mind me saying but when Graham Reid is standing near his old home he is looking up at the
Tower Block at the City Hospital built about 1986.

Look forward to next play in the series.
