Bridie, I saw that Joan Osborne episode. I actually bought her album back int' 90s & was surprised at how bluesy it was. She's got a fantastic voice.

someone - A Folkie :D pointed this one out to me and I was surprised as well as I thought she was more pop although I didn't really know that much about her. I think she does that song proud :D

Up early (for me) on a Sunday, and I'm watching the Pointless and Ill-Informed Speculation Programme. Otherwise known as Sunday Morning Live. I might go back to sleeping in just to be sure I don't see it again.
It looks so solemn on the TV.

I don't. It's watched by the people who think Jackie Bird flashing a tiny bit of cleavage in the run-up to Tam the Gun's successor heralds all that's best in Scottish music.

Jackie Bird doesn't own sufficient breastage to achieve cleavage.
Some people hear voices.. Some see invisible people.. Others have no imagination whatsoever.

SML is one of squillions of pieces of proof that there is no god - a just god wouldn't allow that tripe to be inflicted upon his people. And yet I watch it every week. The only advantage is that I find lots of interesting people to follow on Twitter when I follow the Twitter feed.

If I can stand it, I am going to watch Question Time tonight.

Exhibit A is Neoconservative warmongering nutcase David Frum.

If he doesn't get the roasting he deserves, the other panelists and Dimblebias will have neglected their homework, and I will rant and rave and threaten to put my foot through the telly but won't.

BBC4. Tues 10th Jan 2012 at 20.00. The Men Who Built The Liners.

"Many of the most famous passenger liners in history were built in the British Isles, several in the shipyards along the banks of the Clyde. This series combines personal accounts and archive footage to evoke a vivid picture of the unique culture that grew up in the Clyde shipyards. Despite some of the harshest working conditions in industrial history and dire industrial relations, it was here that the Queen Mary, the Queen Elizabeth and the QE2 were built. Such was the Clyde shipbuilders' pride in their work, and the strength of public support, that in 1971 they were able to defy a government attempt to close them down and win the right to carry on shipbuilding."

A repeat but worth watching again.
