I doubt the COPFS will be prosecuting many non-run of the mill cases any time soon. They may wish to retire to Bannerman's or Greyfriars Bobby's and lick their (self-inflicted) wounds. They may also decide to stop taking Kenny MacAskill's calls for a wee while.

I was wrong. It looks (according to the BBC) as if they're planning to tag religious aggravation onto the charges against the guys accused of sending a parcel bomb to Neil Lennon.

This should be interesting.

I need to improve my sketching. The light lens doesn't look curved enough.

I recognised that as a Mk 1 Granada straight away Brigit, if it 's any help. A stalwart of 'The Sweeney' for some years, and a long-time favourite of mine, especially in 3-litre guise.

I have a box set of The Sweeney which I've just started working through. The first few episodes have the copper coloured Consul GT used by Regan and Carter and a green Granada Ghia.

I found a Death Wish spider in the bath tub during the night. So I picked him out and he jumped behind the radiator. He was back in the tub next time I went in, so I lifted him out again and he disappeared behind the bathroom scales. Got up this morning and guess who's back in the tub...

This time he disappeared around my dressing gown. I looked it over when I took it off but he wasn't there. I've just found a crumpled body on the floor. I don't think I trod on him; he wasn't squashed enough. He must have been caught in the creases of the dressing gown.

Maybe I should put up one of those Samritans' signs by the bath tub to discourage them.

The Egg Man wrote:Anyone who doubts that the Crown Office fucked up should note that the Lord Advocate came out at lunchtime giving his full support to the decision to run with the charge.

That's the legal equivalent of the football club chairman announcing that the manager has his wholehearted support - the day before he gets the sack.

I spoke to someone today who expressed this view. Some weeks ago, when the proposed anti-sectarian legislation was being promised "before the start of the season", then delayed, a polis from Pitt St was interviewed and said (in terms) 'We're going to make a lot of things illegal but we're not going to tell you what they are'. The public won't tolerate that sort of thing. It smacks of a depotic regime. Nobody wants to live in a state where you can't tell in advance if what you intend to do is legal or not.

I reckon that's not far off the mark.

From the Evening Times http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/edit ... -1.1125041

"Individual police officers will decide what should be classed as offensive behaviour at football matches not the government, MSPs have been told.

The Lord Advocate, Frank Mulholland, said it was a matter of judgment as he again refused to cite specific examples of what will lead to an arrest under the new Bill to stamp out sectarianism at games."

As mentioned above. The plan is to make lots of things illegal but not tell you what they are. Individual polis making up their own minds about what's legal and what isn't?

That's simply outrageous.

Unlike that new and very closely-defined offence, Breach of The Peace?

They can charge you with whatever they like. The minor difficulty is getting a conviction.

It's taken five months, but I've now had a letter telling me that my benefits will stop. Looking at the dates, it will be exactly six months after they first wrote to me in May. Naturally, these letters always come on a Saturday. They like to heap the stress on, knowing that their victims have to stew all weekend before they can make a phone call.

Thing is, my blood pressure is spot on normal: 116/80 (last I wrote about the subject, it was 145/100...)

No point in getting worked up about it; I've got out of worse situations.

Needless to say, the form letter says that I failed to attend a medical without giving any reason. I did; I phoned the goons in Cadogan Street and spoke to a jobsworth who neither had any grasp of the Data Protection Act nor cared.

I have a few bob put by. Not a lot, but enough to buy some time, and probably see me through Christmas if I live on beans on toast. It's in a savings account with one of the banks that won't let its poorer customers use other cash machines. I think I might take it out and put it where they can't use it to earn fat-cat bonuses.

Up yours, Darth! The rebellion starts here. :)

Matey's building another shed next door. There's a lot of tappety-tap noises and circular saw whizzing to keep me from enjoying my siesta, but once it's done, hopefully, the noises will move *inside* the shed and we shall all have some peace and quiet.
