Very nice indeed! The one of Holmlea in particular is cracking, good skills mate. I went there as a kid, sorry to see it falling into disrepair. It's a cracking building inside too.

I have a handout (can't think of better word) consisting of 6 typed A4 pages which provides information about "selected stones of interest in Cathcart Old Parish Churchyard and Cathcart Burial Ground, Carmunnock Road".

As I'm moving house soon, I'm at the beginning of what I hope will be a ruthless clearout, and my eye has just lighted on this handout. I wouldn't throw it out, but if anyone here is interested in it, pm me with your address and I'll post it.

Hmmm.... I suppose I could also scan it in, save it to satisfy my own hoarding compulsion, and post it here for everyone to see.

The Glasgow Archaeological Society are having an excursion that includes a visit to The Old Cathcart Churchyard and exploring some of the earthworks from the Battle of Langside. I thought some of you may be interested if you were not already aware of this event. See below for details and link to the home page for the Society.

SATURDAY, 16th APRIL, 2011
CATHCART & QUEEN’S PARK HERITAGE TRAIL – Guide : Ian Marshall.
Meet at Cathcart Old Parish Church at 11.00 am., Parking suggested on Carmunnock Road, Crompton Road or Braidwood Drive.
Visit the churchyard, Snuff Mill Bridge,the Queen’s Knowe and the site of Old Cathcart Castle.
Drive to Queen’s Park c.12.30 – 1.00 pm., Parking suggested on Langside Road opposite the Victoria Infirmary upper entrance.
Visit Langside Library (site of the Battle of Langside), Camphill Earthworks and time permitting Camphill Queen’s Park Church with its Daniel Cottier stained glass windows.
Picnic lunch at the Glasshouses c. 1.00 pm., cafe inside building.
There will be some walking, so suitable walking shoes or boots advised.
This event is free of charge but please book by contacting the Excursions Secretary via the contacts link on our website.

Sod's law! I'm on holiday that weekend. i'll pass it on to my folks though, they might well be interested. I'd definitely be along it I wasn't out of town.

Holmlea was my primary school and I dont remember any spooky stories being passed around while there or after.
