I've no idea how you managed to take those pictures, especially since it sounds like
you met the same charming guy I did.
If indeed the tomb has been built over (presumably without permission) then it's criminal.
Anyway the pictures are great - and what a place!
Would look even better if they tidied it up a bit.

He is a lovely man and this is his families private grounds, you can't just go invading people's privacy by wandering around what it their gardens. Its a private house and family home not a tourist destination open to the general public, the people who live there value peace and quiet. You wouldn't want people trampling uninvited all over your property with cameras would you?
As for the tomb, it isn't even there anymore, It was built over so theres nothing to see just a new building. As for the tunnel, its really not very interesting. Its an old tunnel that connects the main house to the old stables and nothing more. The stables are now now private homes too.

I'm sure he is a lovely man when he wants to be but unfortunately the day I visited, he just didn't
seem to want to be.
I made (what I thought was) a perfectly reasonable request and I was very polite. He was rude and dismissive.
I didn't go trampling uninvited all over the property.
Also we've established that the tomb is no longer there and that it's been built over.
Do you know what happened to it or what it looked like?
Why do NLC's planning department's plans think a tomb is still located there?

I think I just heard a can of worms being opened.

deathsblackdove wrote:Having said that, looking at the map it looks as though the tomb is actually where the garage is rather the new house.

deathsblackdove wrote:I wasn't saying it was ok to build anything on a tomb I was simply commenting on where I think it us after seeing the map. I have no idea when the garage was built or wether they had planning permission or not I was just speculating on where it might be because I was interested to learn there was a tomb in the grounds of the house I live in.
