stress was the initial official press report.agreed stress is a terrible thing,i seen it on my cancer suffering daughters face face today when she read out that she had lost her appeal against the dss decisionn to award her any kind of invalidity whatsoever.she has to struggle onto public transport with her baby in tow to the health centre balancing her wig because she does not want folk to see what chemotherapy does to a young woman.before cancer she had worked every day since leaving school.not stressed enough according to our caring dss, that accolade goes to the drunks and the junkies ,oh and our well cared for council leaders.do i sound angry you better fucking believe it.her honesty in saying that she is refusing to allow herself to get depressed and is detemined to beat it .

Home Office Guidelines

Penalties for possession and dealing
Class A : Ecstasy, LSD, heroin, cocaine, crack, magic mushrooms, amphetamines (if prepared for injection).
Possession : Up to seven years in prison or an unlimited fine or both.
Dealing : Up to life in prison or an unlimited fine or both.

A clearer case of 'do as I say, not as I do' would probably be harder to find. Your 'Let he who is without sin...' allusion is inapppropriate in this case.

Assuming, of course, that the general rumours flying around the internet have a basis in truth.

Would that be the rumours put round by Councillor McThuggish of the opposition. He used to be a community inactivist but now goes around scraping women's cars.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

God save the ordinary person who doesn't have a connection to the Net.

I was trying to find out what Purcell was up to and we have:

or more plausibly given GCC's puritanical tendencies tea

Although Castle Craig is known as a Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centre it does not necessarily follow that Councillor Purcell has an addiction.

According to the newspapers today he went from gibbering incomprehensible wreck (what's new there?) yesterday to recovering with family today.

I read the Sunday Times at the weekend and it was full of Purcell's cronies who had fallen on the sword after being caught cooking their expenses etc. I don't know if I was reading between something the lines, but I recall wondering when Purcell would be falling on the sword.

I will not enjoy reading about the unravelling of Cllr Purcell if that is what happens. But bottom line is the way that Glasgow is run from top to bottom is a disgrace and has been for a long time.

That's one way of looking at it but remember the people of Glasgow have regular opportunities to vote for people who'd run it differently and don't take them.

And McThuggish's real name is? Speak up and be damned.

Purcell stood head and shoulders above most other councillors of any party and may well do so again.

Coleman canny really cut the mustard

If memory serves, I believe Steven Purcell used to be the chair of the Strathclyde Police Authority, which is responsible for appointing the Chief Constable of Strathclyde.

I reckon Gordon Matheson is a serious candidate but I suspect the job will go to one of the older generation this time round.

To donuts maybe.

Listen, his "resignation" has been a PR disaster (for him) from the start. Stand up you waste of space and tell the electorate of this city the truth (I know, an alien concept to our councillors).

And as for all that "he who is without sin....". Bollocks.

Mind you, in a city full of junkies, he's hardly a rarity.

Steven Purcell 'not treated for drug problem'

"The former leader of Glasgow City Council, Steven Purcell, does not have a drug problem, according to his psychiatrist.

Lawyers acting for Mr Purcell revealed the medical assessment from Dr Florian Kaplick to BBC Scotland. "
