Mommet is a Somerset word for a scarecrow, and is also used as an affectionate word for someone mischevious.

I've never known it used to mean scarecrow, but certainly as a term of endearment, usually to someone of a younger generation or a pet that has been indulging in some playful activity.

Meant as scarecrow, the usage is more likely to be South Somerset as I believe they use that meaning over the border in Dorset.

I found this the other day and wondered if anyone has any experience of microscopic photography. There appears to be a Canon EOS attached to one of the devices. Since I have an EOS 300D I thought I might buy one of their toys the next time I'm in the market for gadgets.

I seem to recall Aldi doing a microscope a while ago that sent the images to your Pc. You just plugged into USB.

Postby jonno22 » Sat Nov 21, 2009 11:55 pm

Hi all. For all you animal lovers out there, a good few friends of mine have been buying new pets and I've been taking quite a few photographs of them all for the friends and for myself. Below are the links to all the photographs of three new house pets I've took photographs of over the coupleof days including today.

Tiggy (Tigrat) Thursday night (19th November 2009):

Nice macros. Have you tried to take a picture of your cock cheese? Looks like you have a good lens for it.

Don't worry, Jonno, I have a picture of my bruised and swollen new fanny after the stitches split and I didn't need a macro lens to take it. You can show that to Uncle Foss instead if you like :P
