The first movie I can remember is 'Barabbas' (Anthony Quinn) at the ABC (La Scala) in Clydebank.
Only one I can remember at the Regal is 'Barquero' (Lee Van Cleef)

The wee sweetie shop next to the 'Regal'' sold those triangular blocks of orange ice that I think were called 'Jube-Jubes' The also sold sticky lollies in a silver foil base, maybe called 'Frying Pans'? And also wonderful 'bear' shaped ice lollies made from cola.**

I passed the site of the 'Regal' a few weeks ago, it has been replaced by a new build of flats.

** Aye, Josef, I know, Koala Bears. ::):

I'd be interested to see how many people on here over the age of twenty saw their first film at a cinema that still exists.

First film will 'ave been summit from the disney animation range and the old cinema is now a church /bingo hall>

Anybody remember Mary Tedeschi's? Think it was called the Singer Cafe properly. Opposite Singer station.

A great haunt before the fillums. And also for before going to join the other 27 people watching Clydebank get humped by Stranraer and their ilk at Kilbowie.
Whaddya mean, keep down? Why, they couldn't hit an elephant from this dist-

About three doors down. Look in the 'Clydebank Then & Now' thread.

I remember them, do you still get them?

passed further along on the train today and wondered if anyone knows about the houses at Lilac Avenue/Salisbury Place. That wee pavillion looks awfy neglected. I keep meaning to go and take photos, should do so soon as it looks not long for this earth. Is this still Dalmuir or Mountblow? or even another bit - i dont know that area too well.

It was the old Beardmore Tank training ground during the war, it was like a giant skateboard park, brilliant for bikes. It was down past the old Babcock & Wilcox factory on the banks of the Clyde,
