"Alien Trespass" is a sci-fi flick which although a modern production using state of the art CGI is quite odd in it's construction.

It uses said modern technology to recreate (very effectively) 1950's special effects in a classic 50's B-movie format.

This, in conjunction with exceptionally accurate period sets, props, costumes, cinematography etc gives the movie a completely authentic feel of the era and of the genre.

There are some familiar and well established names in this flick including Robert Patrick of T2, Stargate, x-files etc, Eric McCormack (Will and Grace), Dan Lauria (Wonder Years) as well as couple of other known faces.

The starnge thing is that throughout the entire flick I was expecting the storyline and/or screenplay to unfold into something more than a homage to the 50's sci-fi b-movie classification but it just sort of didn't.

Completely true to the semi corny pastiche of effects and slightly wooden acting and script from start to finish of the B-movies of that golden age of cinema, some would think would make it boring and unwatchable, however I found it quite compelling and rather than being disappointed in the predictable outcome I found myself quite enjoying it's accuracy in portraying the genre.

I think this one is one for officianados of 50's sci-fi and true movie freaks, not really for general consumption.

Interesting nonetheless.

Ooh .. I've been waiting for Avatar .. it looks visually stunning and is, by all accounts from spies in the camp, an absolute rip-snorter.

Another one to look out for folks is District 9.

At the moment, although I've not actually seen it in it's entirety (I absolutely refuse to watch the crappy camera copy I've managed to get a hold of), it's ticking all the right boxes for me.

Nice wee ironic twist setting it in South Africa, apartheid now separating the aliens from the black populace as opposed to the previous situation of blacks from whites coupled with believable sci-fi and a hidden technical mystery to be solved. I may actually go and see this one in an actual picture hall.

Another wee heads up people .. one I've only just heard of this afternoon and not, as yet, seen mentioned anywhere else.

Surrogates stars Bruce Willis in a future world where working from home takes on a whole new dimension.

People have any tasks requiring attention outside the home carried out by completely lifelike facsimiles of themselves known as 'surrogates'.

Willis (a cop) is forced outside of his own four walls (and his comfort zone) by the murders of other peoples surrogates going unsolved.

Looks good.

So many films to watch. I remember telling everyone about Avatar 3 years ago, time passes too fast.

District 9 is next on the list along with The Hurt Locker.

Everyone should go and see Inglourious Basterd right now. What a film. Pretty brutal but that's what you expect from Tarantino.
