What's below these grills? Is it some kind of basement? For storing barrels of beer?

Itd be great if we could find out the pub/restaurants that originally had these cellars. Bit of a marathon but im sure H/G could manage it :D

QM, most basements in the city centre extend beyond the building line and i`m guessing the glass grills are for light enhancement.

Remember for a while, a few years ago, some of them had multi-coloured lights and bits of fruit, etc. embedded in the glass. Can't remember if it was for part of a particular festival, but people seemed to take great joy in smashing them thereby ruining the whole effect

There must be loads of these all over the place. I was hoping some members would have some of their own to post as it could lead to something interesting worth investigating

Here’s one I came across by chance today on the way to the dentist

Hi Mr Daz
I think it was an art student project. There were golden ones, fruit stickers, coloured glass and other enhancements. Rather nice, I thought.

I was sure I had some shots of the ones outside Clasrooms on Sauchiehall St., the ones with slices of citrus fruit in them. Can't find 'em, though.
