If its what I think it is I wandered up there about 12 years ago and have been meaning to go back.
Its the remains of an anti aircraft gun from what I could tell but like I say, a few years have passed since I was there.
Drove past last week and looked like something was happening on site as there looked like there were portacabins or something on site but as I was driving I only got a quick look.
If you fancy wandering up (I was going to cycle up as you cant park a car) give me a shout.

I had the map of Europe too. I think what's happened was sheepdug zoomed in and then copied the link from the address bar, which doesn't work with Google Maps. If you want to link to a particular map, you need to use the "link" which is part of the "Print, Send, Link" group on the right of the page. That gives a URL that will reproduce the current view.

The Carmunnock bypass is at http://tinyurl.com/cgcbza

Doesn't look very farmy? Must be military installation. Might take a run up tommorow

Looks like gun emplacements :)

Like at Mugdock.

Imagine a big pivoting gun in the middle ofeach little cluster of buildings. I forget what the definite sites on such matters are.....

When we were kids at school it was called "the army camp". A bit close to "the cassies" for comfort in those days ::):
Still not visited the place despite staying nearby for most of my life :|

Yep thats it !!!! :) merci for all your help in identification... I went up there recently from there other side (clarkston) and its pretty run down but all the buildings etc are intact... i think someone is building somthing close nearby but the round shaped layout got me thinkin it was gun placements etc... cheers for all your digging folks :)... oh btw does anyone else get together on this board to go exploring ? if so when and where ?

Indeed. For example:

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=8174

Also, there's a meet-up's section in the photography section if you want to propose a day out. Make sure you put the date on it!
