They don't have Glasgow branches. They're all over Ayrshire though, and I have to warn people who might be tempted.

Brownings.

They're beyond pish. I happened to be in Irvine yesterday, so popped into a branch while waiting for a bus, to sample their "jumbo sausage roll" for 50p. A more bland thing I've never eaten in my life. I had to get three from Greggs to make up for it.

I like my sausage rolls, by far my favourite thing from Greggs, but I dunno what Brownings do. They make killie pies, which are pretty nice.

Right enough, that's the same address. I'll have to pay the place a visit to see what's what, obviously.

And they sell the BEST tottie scones I've ever tasted. If they actually bake them in store they should be on Rick Stein's next series of "Food Heroes". I'll be in Dalmuir next week so I'll ask them.

Indeed they do make them fresh every morning. Their rolls are the best in town too.

Not exactly Glasgow, but East Kilbride -

There's a wee bakery in Old Coach Road opposite the petrol station that times their Scotch pies to be ready for lunch-time and even if I say so myself they are the dogs danglies. :D

The only thing is you have eat them there and then because they're like a fine French wine, they don't travel - I know I've tried often. Their rolls are good to, a bit like Aberdeen Butteries, but still better than the pi$h supermarkets sell.

Jamiesons in Scotstoun close to the junction of Dumbarton Rd & Expressway. Opens from 7.30am everything freshly baked on the premises.

And a little further down the road between the Bungalow Cafe and Scotstoun Emporium there's Coaker's who also have a branch on Dumbarton Road in Partick near Sandy Road Health Centre / Police Station
