That makes sense and matches what the other James said earlier in this thread about old entrances now being fire escapes at many stations. Interesting about the shop above, i didn't know it used to be an entrance too.

that pine shop is like a mazer when you go down stairs. its over several levels, you should go in and have a look.

i didnt realise it was part of the station entrance but looking back its very feesable i suppose.

That's not actually the underground though, but part of the Glasgow Central Railway, the Botanic gardens station is further up the tunnel. Great photos though!

Yes. Caledonia Mansions stands just to the right.

Still get a kick out of seeing Dan Aykroyd, Eric Stoltz and Gillian Anderson prancing around Glasgow pretending to be in 19th century New York!

Cheers gap74, i was trying to remember how it appeared in the film. I remember watching them filming that scene. I remember the whole back wall was covered with "blue (or was it green?) screen" so they could change it's appearance with CGI. They had a little newstand under the steps as well. I think they did a rather good job.
