The 1950 film of the Madeleine Smith case is on at the GFT tonight - anyone know if any of it was actually filmed in Glasgow?

While on the subject of Madeleine Smith I was most disappointed to find that building in Blythswood area was just an
office. I had been told she had lived in the area and was expecting a house more like a museum or something owned by National Trust. As someone who does not live in Scotland and only knows parts of Glasgow (an aunt lives there and my
parents come from there too) thought there would have been something in connection with what was supposed to be a famous murder case. It seems Scotland only place in world with a 'Not Proven' verdict which does seem odd but maybe
someone else knows answer to this.

While checking Google in the past for information on Madeleine Smith discovered she was supposed to have married twice after the verdict and ended up living in United States. Think there is supposed to be a headstone to her somewhere
like New York.
Also while using Google discovered this was name of one of 'Carry On' film actresses though spelling different.

The Scottish jury consists of 15 people, making it probably the largest trial jury operating today.

Significantly, and in marked contrast to the English tradition, the Scottish jury may return its verdict by a simple majority.

In modern practice the jury must be told that at least eight votes are necessary for a guilty verdict

so it does not matter a toss if the other seven voted not guilty or not proven.

Thanks Dexter. Believe it or not my aunt was once a lawyer in Cumbernauld and worked in Glasgow city centre for a while. Unfortunately in recent times she hasn't been 100% either physically or mentally. Think she may have a touch of
dementia though she is now in her eighties so expect most people would probably have some memory loss by then.
Think most of her work concerned people making wills and sales of houses.
