Thinking back was it not called the Videodrome?

That would explain why it didn't show up on the search  .

See Glasgow? See David Cronenberg movies? Indistinguishable.

Has anyone got any good pics of The Apollo / Greens Playhouse from the late 60s onwards? Same for the Barras area. I remember the Barras as a wee boy, there was hundreds of shells around the road, oysters or mussels, what was that about? Were they a big thing in the 70s?

Shame the only picture that anyone managed to find has gone from the thread.

oh thank you. And huge apologies - I know that it's bad manners on this MB not to search first before asking and I broke that rule!

The Bar nightclub and restuarant at the suspension bridge was Panama Jacks and the Devils Advocate,
and accross the other side of the bridge was The Trading Post(I think).

I used to drink in the Brunswick Cellars in Sauchihall St about ten years ago when I was a student at Cardonald and later Paisley. I understand that it has changed name now but at the time I can remember:

Pints of Fosters for about £1
Writing my name in the sooty ceiling
The fish tank full of phiranahs, although this could be an alcohol induced memory :D

I must be permanently drunk or something, because I thought it was STILL called The Brunswick Cellars .. that pub with the sort of Joy Division graphic above its door?

Could be, I haven't been up that end of the town in ages. I had heard it was now called The Underground but my sources are seldom reliable.
On a similar vein, I used to also drink in Underworld until recently (birth of children = demise of social life) but it's changed now too.

The Bruswick cellars was rebranded in Sept 2005 as the Cellars(I was there on the opening night free bevvy all night) and was shorltly thereafter changed back to the Brunswick cellars and then in late 2006 was changed to Underground at the Cellars before being changed back to Brunswick cellars again in 2007. I havent been in for a few months but i know you can still get a cheap pint and a good old sound or two blasted.

Did the Five Aces play that night. Or was it Figure Five? Free booze eh!

Panama Jacks was on the north side of the Clyde, by the suspension bridge, and it later became the Trading Post.

Can't vouch for the Devils Advocate, but I think that it was next door to Panama Jacks.

I thought the Trading Post was on the south side of the suspension bridge at Carlton Place. I've a notion is was owned by Ronnie Somerville who went on, with others, to start 5pm.co.uk
238 to 127. All in all a good afternoon's work

There is/was a Devils Advocate pub/restaurant across from the back entrance of the Sheriff Court.
