I went down to the location of the terminus today to see if I could find any trace of what was once there and I'll tell you what, there's not a lot.
Using the original picture I have added the points where I have taken the pictures which follow.
From position 1 looking down river, all that seems to have survived is the ferry pier and the bollards allthough it would be interesting to see if the rails for the crane survive under the slabs. (some midnight pick-axe action maybe
)
At position 2 the bridge which carried paisley road west over the railway can still be seen from the terminal side;
But from position 3 on the other side of Paisley road west there is no trace other than the wall on the other side of the road;
Looking the other way from Paisley road west you can see the path of the railway lines as they ran parallel to Seaward street;
And at the far end of this road where Seaward street passes under the M8 there are the remains of another bridge which looks like it has been converted into storage units;
And again from the other side there is pretty much no evidence that there was ever a bridge there;
I need to go back down at some point and find somewhere better to park the car so that I can ignore all the private land signsand get down to the river bank but it dosnt look like I would find anything.
