Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay in New York ?

Postby johnnyanglia » Mon May 07, 2007 9:29 am

Hi, I am going to New York later in the year. I booked a hotel through a travel agent only to be informed about the "trip advisor" site which gave it a horrific review. I have spent the last two week looking at reviews and would prefer a personal recommendation from someone that has been there, Cheers, Johnny.

I'm staying at the Chelsea Star Hotel in September, not sure if it's any good (the reviews on trip advisor are mixed) but it's cheap and the location is spot on!

I stayed at the Amertania Hotel a couple of years ago which is on W54th Street @ Broadway. It was trendy, cheap and comfortable but you didn't get any meals. If you want to be in the hustle and bustle of Manhattan then it could be what you're looking for - Times Sq. 10mins walk. It's just round the corner from the theatre where the David Letterman show is held - turned out to be v. handy when halfway thru the Letterman show I realised I was coming down with sickness and the squirts - that's another story tho... Don't bother! Just go with my suggestion. I have recommended it to others and everyone has enjoyed their stay. :D

Has anyone hired an apartment in NY? Seems like a good idea if a few of you are going.

Hi, Thanks again for the replies. Unfortunately Craig the place you suggested was way out of my price range. Likewise appartments were either awkward(ie not enough accomodation), expensive or not available on the required date. Cheers again, Johnny.
