I've only been to the Polo a couple of times on a Sunday afternoon, and it was a few years ago, but after reading the articles on the above site, I'm left feeling a bit apprehensive. Has anyone been recently? This might sound daft, but is it "straight friendly"?

If you get hit on by somebody of the same gender and don't like the attention, you can always say "thanks but I'm not that way inclined" or the like.

Bah, you need educating.

Go along with it if they buy you stuff ::):

Gay bars ain't that bad, not that I frequent them or something, I was dragged up by the lezzers when I was at college, I also found out they can be tempted back rather easily, those were the days.

The most amusing bit was spotting people I knew there, lecturers, married men etc!

Their 'gaydar' (TM, patent pending etc) is normally highly accurate they can tell if your 'one of them' or 'an outsider'

I might actually pop along if I can, it's my birthday on the 24th and I may still be in engerland though doing some work.

Getting "hit on" by any gender doesn't bother me, but it's just good to be
somewhere that feels relaxed.

anyway, who says that they might want to hit on you, you might be a complete minger that even the same sex dont want to associate with never mind the opposite

If anything, I have found gay bars to be the best, you can have a good time and (sweeping generalisation) gays tend not to be as big assholes as many straight men.

Come to teh pub!

I can't remember the last time I was in a bar and anyone of any gender tried to "hit" on me.
