It was a stationary depot, wholesale newsagent and bookseller for WM Holmes & Co (not sure if it still is now). Here it is with its clock:

It's on Woodville St., in fact after I'd taken a picture of this one I walked on a bit and spotted another one taped to the wall of the Stadium Bar!
