post the late opening boozers, where you can drink past 12.
i'd much prefer to stay in a pub than move to a club

The Chip seems to have a late license for every festival and The Comedy festival is on now.

Most late opening pubs turn into clubs.

The Universal on Sauchiehall Lane usually opens upstairs for pub punters after 12 if there's no club night on.

If that makes any sense.

Unfortunately it's yet another of Glasgow City Council's short sighted licensing policies that a pub can only get an extended licence if it puts on some form of entertainment, which usually means an annoyingly loud DJ...

Is it really such a danger to have a quietish place where someone can have a beer after 12am...?

agreed.

The 8 ball in Stockwell Street can be quiet, sometimes too quiet. The Queens club in Queen Street but it might only open late if there's a function on.

I'm for joining the RAFA club in Ashley street. Join a socila club now before they disappear.

Sadly, not quiet, but open til 3am and free entry, Box on Sauchiehall Street. The premises were last open as The Blob Shop. Also Bar Bloc on Bath Treet. Open til 1am weeknights and 3am weekends.

I thimnk we're looking for a late night drink without the noize. Like we used to have before McDairmid, Coleman and Moyes. Like you can have in other Scottish towns.

Think yourself lucky you dont drink in Greenock, we still have a curfew whereby you must be inside the last pub/club by 11.30pm or you dont get in. You cant even leave for a fag, or you wont be allowed back in.

Its this pathetic nonsense by Inverclyde Council that makes us a laughing stock the country over. We are the only place in Britain to have this rubbish. All it does is encourages greenockians to go out to 6.30 ish and get blitzed so they dont have to pay more expensive club drink prices.

Our council is beyond a disgrace for thinking this is acceptable.

Another option is the casinos. Free entry, relatively civilised, no loud music, and they're open till 6 except for Saturdays. I usually go to the Stanley on Sauchiehall St, an added bonus is they will call a taxi for you, so no waiting in that mad queue outside the Garage-and its cheaper ::): You don't have to gamble either, 95% of the time I go I don't have a bet.
