If only the brave new world the though we would be living in by the 21st Century was all protein pills, shiny silver suits and vertical villages in the sky and not McCain Micro Chips, Shell Suits and high-rise hell for thousands of people. Give me real food a wee tenement flat and a proper shopping street any day. Call me old fashioned? Well thank you! ::):

Just missing the People's Palace Shocking.

Not the first time that the Green was threatened by transport development. Back in the heyday of the railway boom a company was proposed to build a line from Coatbridge into Glasgow which was to cross Glasgow Green on an extensive viaduct. The company promoters even went as far as building a full size wood and canvas model of on eof the arches. Needless to say the scheme collapsed!

Hidden Glasgow is probably (in my opinion) the best thing that has happened for Glasgow by a long way::):
I thought I knew the city inside out but it turns out that I knew fuck all
So as long as like minded people have a voice or an opinion then we can stop shit like this in it`s tracks

All I`m saying crusty is that Hidden Glasgow broadens the horizon for more people to join the campaigns, rather than a minimised local campaign ::):

It must have been an exciting project to be involved in.
As completely nutty, and misguided, as it was, there must have been a real feeling of building for the future, a brave new world.

A chunk of this happened - closing some side street access onto GWR, the bus bays didn't, but the median with pedestrian barriers happens once it duals near Gartnavel hospitals, the re-alignment of which must have occurred in the 1960's when these plans were being written. The plan does seem to indicate that the planners recognised that GWR could not be widened through teh demolition of tenements etc.
