I worked in Cowlairs Road from 1978 to 1983 and I remember playing mixed 5 a sides in the hall one summer. We had about 10 teams altogether and my team won ::): I didn't contribute much tho
have I missed anything ???

I've got to say, I think this last one turned out beautiful. Everything that the 'past present' is all about. What would that family say about their church if they could see it today?

Cheers for the nice words guys. 4 hours in total Pgcc93. 2 hours to shoot about getting the photos this morning and another 2 hours to resize, knock into shape and do the transparencies.

Outstanding Schiehallion. I totally hate football, but those last two photographs made me feel really emotional. Magical work!

This is looking west, towards the junction with Hope Street.

As with some of the others I have already posted on this thread, I took the older picture myself. The large van on the right is parked outside the entrance to the old Crown Hall auction rooms – this is where the Studio sign is in the 2007 picture. The building where the Royal Hotel was is no more – it was replaced in the late 1980’s.

The shop to the immediate right of the first Leyland Titan bus was a branch of Dunn & Co., a rather old fashioned establishment that specialised in menswear for the More Mature Gentleman. This gave them something of an image problem which is probably why they went out of business eventually. I am not 100% sure about the destination screen on the bus but I think it might be going to Queenslie, in which case it would be a no. 10 coming from Knightswood or Scotstounhill.

Note also in the background the Gaumont cinema sign on the building which is now the Savoy shopping centre.
