BT Broadband and FTP uploading

Was wondering if anybody else on BT Broadband ever had problems uploading files to servers via FTP?

I keep getting files stalling while uploading to servers with WebFusion and 1&1 Internet with various FTP clients, so I'm assuming it's the machine or connection and wondered if anybody else had experienced this?

what ftp client are you using? Are you using a usb/ethernet modem, a router, or what? What os? Firewall? passive or active ftp mode?
