Have you been into the maritime museum in Aberdeen Vlad? It's pretty good and it has a guide to all the boats in the harbour, as well as a giant scale oil rig. It was free to get in too, last time I was there.

I took these on the St Sunniva halfway between Orkney and Shetland a few years ago. I was out on deck and spotted the light heading towards me. All the passengers were ordered inside but I stayed behind a life boat on the pretence I hadn't heard the announcement.

It turned out a passenger had suffered a suspected heart attack and the coastguard helicopter was scrambled from Sumburgh in Shetland. I read in the local Shetland press that the guy was ok.

It was quick snap taken with my camera phone (And cut down in size!)

Continuing the Clyde cruising theme, here are two photos from the late 60s whilst on a day out to Brodick and compared to TC's piccies at Helensburgh, the weather was a wee bit better too :D

I also remember the ballsed-up demolition of one of the last massive in the same area but the name of the yard escapes me. One day I was passing and this big crane was perfectly triangular, looking like a permanent fixture and the next it was snapped off with one end on the ground and the other still attached.

The wreck is the Greek cargo ship CAPTAYANNIS, she was driven on to a sandbank during a storm on the evening of 27th January 1974.

She can be seen in this photo I took a couple of month ago .......

The Cruise Ship "Golden Princess" at Greenock and the Captayannis is seen lying on it's side in the middle of the river.
