RT- Not all ships have a bell. They all have an anchor. Unless we're talking about the Rouken Glen rowies of course.

I shall cede, however, to a "mooring rope", but that serves the same purpose as an "anchor rope"

Me and Joanne took the camper van up to Orkney in the summer and found this;

To get us there we drove to Gills bay which is west of John O'Groats for the Pentalina B ferry which used to run between Gourock and Dunoon;

Built by Scotts of Greenock circa 1973

Most BP river boats had B&W power the Kennet and the Avon had Scott built Sulzers

Thanks, was rather frustrating though.. the wind kept blowing it about and most of the shots came out with motion blur.
I'll hopefuly get some better ones soon though :)

Deck shot from poop of "James Craig" a 1500 ton 3 masted Barque. Built Sunderland 1874 for Clan line originally "Clan Mcleod" restored to full sailing order 2001. Sails Sydney Harbour & Costal NSW waters
