I decided to set up at the police station on Salkeld Street where some kind soul had left some string 'round the lampost. Just right for strapping up the webcam. I've not used it before nor am I the BBC, so the image is a bit weedy. It'll give you an idea of what I saw (and heard).

I need some better suited equipment. The EOS only goes at four frames per second and then pauses to write to disk. Photos later...

Very good. If that is your first attempt then it will not be long before the BBC come calling!!

Well impressed with the photos I've seen so far, both here and on flickr. Also, nice of the sunshine to hold out for just long enough. Now the rain's here to keep the dust down.

Hey Reenie - the sound on yours makes it all seem so much more dramatic!

I'd also recommend the photos taken by Sauvagii on Flickr - he's got a fantastic frame rate and fantastically clear pictures in a slideshow (if you let it all run once so every picture's loaded you can click skip really fast and watch it just like it was a video) It's a shame they're not in exactly the right order when you view the slideshow, but you can follow the link at the top of the page back to his album, right-click-save them and do it yourself :wink:

Potatojunkie, I really really like your pictures too. I've never looked onto the roof of a block as it comes down before.

AlanM - were you still there as the crowd cleared? Were you standing on the wee green hill closest to the fence? I came by with some friends and flasks of tea :)

Hi Scott - the sound overloaded later unfortunately, but the initial crisp bang played back through my stereo sounds very much as I heard it. Not bad for a twenty quid webcam strapped to a lamppost!

I've got plenty of images to assess from the last few days, but here's two to be going on with.

I caught the corner of the first tower just as it was beginning to peel away. I like the cracks around the windows beginning to appear.

I stayed afterwards to survey the wreckage and couldn't help noticing that the kids' playground had survived.

I'll get a flickr account and put the rest there.

@Reenie
I love that shot!
You can really see how one part is starting to fall away from the other.
Personally I love my dust shot.
