Hi banjo.Yeah they're still going for some prices. It's a hobby of mine buying the old shitty Choppers, restoring them and selling them on.You would'nt believe the money they go for sometimes.Especially the Silver Jubilee Special Edition.I've seen them priced at £1000.

And BrigitDoon thanks for identification on the Volvo and Jaguar.

Daveboy, I think you missed a Ford Escort at the bottom of my street .. apart from that you seem to have caught every other car in Scotland.
I like him ... He says "Okie Dokie!"

from foreign climes......

an audi 100 at hersonissos port, crete a coupla years back.
i know this is an old, old, model but you'd think it was brand new - all the more amazing for the fact that most cars on crete are coated with/have a 'matt' paint job due to the dust flying about - but this was immaculate and shiny!

those are cracking phots from daveyboy, lots of nostalgia in there :D

personally, i think he's a multi-millionaire and owns them all ::):

ORGASM!

Lurve those chrome arches. Drool...

Sorry

Really sorry... The last time I was in one of those, my Dad took it for a test drive out of the local Audi VW agent's forecourt in Somerset when I was seven (1975). I was sat in the back and it was huge. I wanted it there and then. It was in a tasteful metallic blue and had an 1800cc motor. It was the first of those that got away...

The styling was heavily influenced by Mercedes (who used to own Audi in the sixties, and directed some of their earlier products) but Audi were owned by Volkswagen by this point.

Dad ended up buying an orange VW Scirocco TS (the orginal Giugiaro design) instead. That's another story, though.

I got my Audi in the end, but not that one. Nor this one...

I remember the people across the road having one and giving us kids a lift to school in it. It wasn't the same as having your own door. Pretty, but not so practical.

Loveley old Humber in Strathbungo, outside the bakers where I buy my rolls. It has been there and I have left the camera in the office - and I have had the camera and it has not been there a few times , but I got it today :) Shame about the weather,

Ford Cortina Mk V, Dex

The visual differences are subtle, the larger rear lights being the most obvious difference. The front indicators wrap 'round too. There were subtle alterations to the bodyshell and the glass area was enlarged, presumably to improve visibility from within.

Ford Cortina Mk IV from further up the thread for comparison:

Ford Cortina (Mk IV) 2.3 Ghia. V-6 model rare even in its day. Shame about the paint and wheels. Spied in Cardonald this afternoon.

Cortina Mk IV ran from 1976-79 (P-T reg)
Cortina Mk V ran from 1979-82 (V-X reg)

The run-out Mk V was known as a Crusader and I remember it having the logo of the Daily Express as part of the trim on its stern.

The Cortina lingered on as a pick-up for a time.

Father had a Mk IV Cortina, OAS793S as I recall.

The longer rear lights and louvred front grille are the things I remember being the most obvious updates to the Mk V.

Amusing to read the spec list, and to see what was considered a luxurious extra in those days!

The Haynes manual for V-6 Cortinas runs from 77-83. Glass's Guide lists the Cortina 2.3 from Sept '77. This would put the first examples on an S-plate, which ran from Aug '77-Jul '78.

Some workaday French cars that aren't exactly old or classics, but you just don't see 'em on UK roads anymore.

These were spotted in Paris in October last year.

Renault 12, I think?

The Amphibicar spotted earlier on this thread from a different angle. Annoyingly, I had a pic of it from June without the cover obscuring it, but that went along with my camera when I managed to lose it in an X-ray machine at the Louvre...

If you spot my new toy give me a wave, I will be in the passenger seat for the time being as I fell off it on Sunday and broke my wrist. Not the best thing to do when you have to drive 6 hours home to visit casualty

then if it is indeed a 2.3v6 then what he has done to this car is truly terrible, imagine it in apollo green with twin spots and brown velour interior.Does your Haynes manual mention whether they were all automatic or not and whether they were all four door or two? Lets start a Cortina thread!

I don't own the Haynes manual but I saw one for sale on eBay. I know there was a 2.3S with 4sp manual 'box.
